life lesson

In the past, on those rare occasions when I have felt moved to brag, I got my comeuppance so shortly thereafter that it could take your breath away. Eventually it sank in that modesty is apparently the path which the cosmos wishes for me to take. Once in a while I still slip up -- but I still never get away with it.

It's not bragging to acknowledge objective realities!

If by "karma" you mean what is sometimes called the "wisdom of crowds," I'm afraid crowds often have no wisdom.

If Charles Darwin had said "I am a profoundly insightful and original thinker" on the day Origin of Species was published, and twenty thousand Englishmen saw it differently and said so at length, he would still be right IMO.
