let us now praise my "new" car

Well, it took about 9½ months for this car to burn out a headlight bulb. (Got it taken care of yesterday -- if nothing else, at least that's one of the cheapest things you can take it into the shop for.) My previous car was notorious for going thru 2 or 3 headlight bulbs per year -- I'm sure it must've had undiagnosed electrical faults. (The on-and-off performance of its stereo is probably another clue...)

My old van burnt headlights every 6 months or so. My car, not nearly so often. I don't know what the difference is other than the van was driven a lot more.

I always have my headlights on, day or night. The old van didn't have running lights, just headlights, so they were always on. My car has running lights but 99% of the time I turn the headlights on anyway as they are brighter.

My new van automatically switches depending on how dark it is, so I expect the headlights will last longer. I hope.
