Writer's Block: Best book ever!

[Error: unknown template qotd]I've had various “foolproof re-reads” over the course of my life (The Lord of the Rings, Dune, Nova), but for probably the last thirty years my go-to book has been Islandia. There are some small new things in it every time I go back in, but I suspect that a lot of that has more to do with what I bring into the reading as I get older and wiser. There's a lot of wisdom in that book, and some parts of it are easier to see at different points in your life, I'd say.

Oddly enough, I have some books I can read again and again, and some that made just as much impact on me (perhaps in different ways) but I've only read once and love them just as much.

Always up for a re-read:
The Bone Collector
Outlander
certain Scarpetta books
any and all of the Sookie Stackhouse books
Twilight (::insert defiant look here::)

Once and it's still with me:
Lisey's Story
The Host
The Dogs of Babel
Odd Thomas

I wish I knew why there was a difference. Thanks for the think. It's nice to use my head for something besides a sneeze-machine for a minute or two. :)
