something I am grateful for today

It's Closing Day on the old house.

Yesterday afternoon we signed the final sale papers** and turned in our keys. Our lawyer told us the money should be in our account this afternoon or Monday at the latest. This mornin I went by the old place and dropped off a housewarming gift for our buyers who should be showing up there this afternoon.

It's all happening for real!

**there were many papers covering all kindsa sutff. For instance:
Apparently there is a guy named John MacLeod who owes $1000 from a driver's insurance violation in 1992. I had to sign a paper swearing that I'm not that guy, otherwise they would try and take the $1000 out of the money we're getting for selling the house today. Who knew?

Toilet paper, paper towel and a box of tea?

Champagne, two glasses, and a bottle of Tylenol?

Paper plates, napkins and a gift certificate for the local pizza place?

Or maybe something seasonally appropriate - a wreath for the door, a bottle of rum and a carton of eggnog?

Odd. Government is supposed to see us as faceless numbers, not names.
