trivial thot

If I was asked to name the technological device, development, what-have-you, that has had the most far-reaching consequences vis-a-vis life as we know it, I would choose:

electricity. [as in, "electric power harnessed for industrial, commercial, and residential use"]

I've seen various discussions of the impact of this or that invention, but seriously, how many of them don't depend on electricity?

Ball bearings.

It's all ball bearings nowadays!

I agree.

However, if you define technology in a larger sense -- as, for instance, any man-made creation which is designed to solve real problems -- other answers become possible. For instance, language.

I'm not clever enough to do such a thing.
