something I am grateful for today

While sorting and rummaging over the weekend, I ran across two or three of my old comics I made back in the 80s and 90s. And, immodest as it might sound, they were better than I remembered them being. And, strangely enough, Sharon said the same thing.

Now, I haven't drawn anything of substance in literally years, so I know that at the moment I am as rusty as all get out. If I sat down now to draw something good, I wouldn't be able to. Not right out of the gate. But:

I realize that I have a certain amount of raw skill still remaining there in my bones someplace. And if I ever get off my duff I could polish it back up. Maybe not as good as my prime, but good enough to be worth doing. So, I'm thankful that I learned how to draw. I need to remember how nice it is to be able to do that.

Thanx, man.

BTW, Jay, just to forestall any unintended insult: by my reckoning, it's a couple years since I did that 5-pager for you. I was counting that as the last substantial thing I did. Don't want you thinking that I was discounting the value of that project, cuz I'm not. But since then, nothing but the odd single drawing.
