something I am grateful for today

There was no one around when I ran that stop sign this mornin.

Not so much “grateful that there were no witnesses” (although that is a plus) but “grateful that no one got hurt”. I have no idea what was distracting me so much that I sailed right past it... I mean, I have been down that street a zillion times, it's not like the sign is a surprise. I wasn't speeding, I wasn't trying to run it, it just happened.

This is one of the most careless, stupidest things I have ever done. And part of me is also royally pissed that this act has knocked me off of my moral high horse from whence I pass judgment on all the “bad drivers” around me -- today I am one of them, and I get to rail about what a “moron behind the wheel” I am, instead. Today I have been humbled --- and I don't like it one bit.

[Which is probably why I needed it.]

We all make mistakes while driving, and fortunately we get away with it almost all the time with no injury or damage. Take it as a lesson and move on. :)

Personally I am somewhat inattentive when backing up, and I've had a couple of close calls. I try to be extra-extra aware because of those near misses.

Yeah me too, I find backing up trickier than it oughta be sometimes...

If you didn't get caught, it didn't happen. :)
