UK2018 Trip - Dec 7

Today's jaunt was short but sweet, taking in stretches I have seen many times along with ones brand new to me! After a damp morning, a sunny break coaxed me out:

Just a block up the street from me is Pavement Vaults, which I see almost every day but never thought to snap until now:

A few blocks further up took me into terra nova. At one single intersection I saw the Assembly Rooms:

St. Leonard's Place

and St. Wilfrid's

From there I took a left, past Museum Gardens:

and ruined walls which I think may have been part of St. Mary's Abbey:

til I came to Lendal Bridge, guarded on the east by Lendal Tower:

Here's the view of the River Ouse from Lendal Bridge:

West Lodge guards the west end of the bridge:

across from the North Street Postern:

and what looks like a walkway running along the top of an old city wall?

Also caught a glimpse of the City Cruises York boats:

Circling back across the Ouse, I went past St. Helen's:

and St. Martin le Grand:

took a peek down Coppergate just to see what I could see:

and came back to All Saints Pavement:

which is right across the street from Pavement Vaults and I see it almost every day, but never snapped it until today! I even went round the back:

and also found a little walkway that runs behind it, which I had never been on before.

This city is filled with small hidden delights.
