Lemmy Dream

This afternoon I had a dream about Lemmy! (What the what??)

I stumbled across his blog, filled with assorted writings, photos, and video entries. There was a photo of a cat swimming in a river, with only its eyes and nose showing above the water. Accompanying it was a written entry where Lemmy described finding his cat in the river, and then “getting curious about how long it would take it to get out” -- turns out it was “about half an hour for it to swim against the current and make it onto the bank, and then about another half an hour for it to find its way up to the bridge and the bench where I am sat watching it.” Lemmy concluded the entry with “Come on then, cat, time for us to fook off back to our Fookin Cabin. God I am such a Fookin Rock Star.”

I also remember a video entry: Lemmy had a rough rock-band set-up [instruments, mikes, PA] in his back yard [many coniferous trees] with a number of his former Motörhead bandmates gathered. They were preparing to rehearse Lemmy's latest music -- he had now decided he wanted to sing and perform music more along the lines of Bryan Ferry, and his old mates had gathered round to try and help him cobble his new musical direction into shape.

As it turns out, Lemmy had hired Tommy Gofton to film this blog video, which surprised me somewhat. Tommy is a local filmmaker (whom both of my kids have worked for, as it happens), so I wasn't expecting to see him working far away with Lemmy. At one point, Lemmy was sprawled in a lawn chair talking directly to the camera, and for a second Tommy leaned in front of the lens and waved, just so he could get immortalized in a shot with the rock legend. And then Lemmy said, very deadpan and yet clearly with affectionate teasing, “Never trust a man who has to say hello to his own camera.”

I dunno, I thought it was fun.

I have Matthew Taylor to thank -- remember him? -- for knowing exactly who you meant when you said Lemmy. Quite a character, that Lemmy!

Wow. That is brilliant dream advice...Never trust a man who has to say hello to his own camera. Made me feel like i was dreaming it just by reading it. I get advice from rock stars in dreams a lot too. Dylan and Bowie, mostly. What the what is right.

I once dreamed that Bowie was God -- as in, the actual omnipotent creator of the universe God. When I woke up, I was suddenly able to dig his music in ways that had previously eluded me.
