oatmeal recipe

I've said before that I like oatmeal - especially the slower, large-flake kind as opposed to the more processed quick kind. Sloatmeal tastes better. And because its fibre is less refined, it's healthier for you too!
However, I also recognize that there is some fuss involved in preparing it, which sometimes is why it seems easier to have something else. The mess when it boils over is a particular bugaboo. Allow me to present my recipe which makes it about as easy as can be to have nice-tasting sloatmeal with a minimum of fuss.
[NOTE: this is a microwave recipe, so of course times and settings may need to be adjusted to reflect differences in performance from one model to the next. With that caveat out of the way, let's rock!]
Add whatever you like. Me, I just put a bit of milk on it to cool it down, and that's all. Apparently I'm a purist.
So there you have it. My bag of oatmeal claims that it cooks in 10-15 minutes but my method has it all done in like three. Hard to prepare anything else as good as that for brekkie in 3 minutes, I tell ya!
PS: when you're done, either wash the bowl right away or fill it with water and leave it to soak: if you let it dry it's a real bear to get clean.

- First and most importantly: get a large microwaveable bowl that you will enjoy eating out of. We have some nice ceramic ones that hold about 2.5 or 3 cups which seems to be the perfect size. An oversize bowl will allow room for boiling without it boiling over - saves you having to watch over it like a hawk every second. This is my main simplification secret right there! I don't have to monitor it in progress at all anymore.
- Put in: 1/3 cup large-flake oatmeal, a dash of salt, and 2/3 cup water.
- Stir and nuke full-blast for 60 seconds.
- Stir and nuke full-blast for 30 seconds.
- Stir and nuke full-blast for 20 seconds.
- Take out of nuke, stir, and let sit for a bit till it thickens up the way you like.
