something I am grateful for today
May. 5th, 2012 07:50 amToday is National Cartoonists Day! (And my Zoner friends have informed me that, by extension, it is Curmudge Day!) I am grateful for cartoonists and cartooning and comics, and I'm also happy that I am a cartoonist.

traypup. Especially thinking of her today because it's her birthday [have an amazing one, Tray!]. Most people, to see us, would not consider us close friends: we're not in constant touch with each other, we don't get together for coffee, etc. [And much of that is simply on account of how I choose to live my life, it's just my way with people generally...] But when I look back on the kindness and caring and support and interest she has shown me over the years [and my gosh yes it's been years!] I have to consider her a true friend.

Jun. 9th, 2009 02:57 pmginsuUncommonly well-read, articulate, witty, insightful, witheringly intelligent, level-headed, challenging, with a rare balance of respectful and fun-loving... if you want to have a really good discussion about something, he's your go-to guy. Lord only knows just how he's going to rake me over the coals for saying all this, but he'll think of some way, I'm sure.
