a break in the cold, it's actually thawing a bit today!

A beautiful sunny morning after too long without.

The heat and smoke have let up enough today to allow us to open the windows and turn off the AC.

[Yeah, I know I have been leaning on this one a lot lately, but it's been an unusually bad year for this sort of thing...]

The heat wave finally broke! It's been weeks!

waking to a cool-comfy house [it won't stay that way long today....]

going all night and all day while needing neither the furnace nor the air conditioning on at any time

a nice enough day that we can open the windows!

It's already April! March went by so fast!

Being greeted this morning by the sight of a robin in our back yard tree. It was all fluffed up round because of the cold, and they always look so cute that way!

having the windows open for the first time this year!
johncomic: (Booth)
Having the windows open and letting fresh air in the house — this late in the year, it's rare here for the weather to be warm enough to allow this.

I recently realized that, every day this summer without exception, our municipal water level was at Level 0 blue = no cause for concern. I cannot remember a previous summer where we had no dry patches with the city's water supply growing a bit low. I wasn't sure I would ever see such a thing happen, but here it is.

Driving alone on quiet midday streets with a quiet mind, perfect weather, and gorgeous music. In moments like that, life is as good as you could want.
johncomic: (Uncle Old Guy)
A perfect morning: the temperature and humidity are amazing, the breeze is light and fresh, the sun and sky are gorgeous, the trees are full and the birds are happy. I want to remember that we do get days like this here.

the time of year when we can leave windows open and the furnace off overnight, but don't need to put the AC on during the day

[my favourite weather but, seriously, it lasts less than two weeks here]

A dull, wet morning here is being brightened by robins, who are out there singing out regardless!

being able to sit out on the front porch to read for a while — first time this year!

[Okay, since you asked: I am currently reading Imagine Wanting Only This by Kristen Radtke]

the sun

Today is the first break of bright light and blue sky we've had outside in a few weeks and it's so welcome. Thankful not only for the appearance of a lovely day, but also that whole business about how the sun makes life as we know it possible, etc.

a rainy day

Today's forecast is for rain all day, heavy at times. I've been saying for the last couple weeks that we need it — the lawns and fields have begun to look like straw. Plus our air has been full of wildfire smoke for the past week and a good rain could help clear some of that out. It's unusual for us to go so long without rain in the spring...
