Writer's Block: Too mainstream

Success per se does not turn me off of a treasured obscure band. But if success changes them and they start pandering to their new mass audience, this generally causes them to churn out music that I wouldn't enjoy even if they were still obscure.
I still judge them by their work alone. But it's a sad fact that, many times, the work suffers by trending toward commercial pap in the wake of mainstream acceptance.
