Christmas de-briefing
Dec. 27th, 2005 03:32 amJust for the record: I went into Christmas pretty confident this year, and I'll tell ya why.
The way I saw it, out of all the things I got for Sharon and the kids, I figured I had at least one thing for each of them that would make them go "BOO yah!" [or some equivalent thereunto]. I figure, if I can manage that, then my Christmas is a success, and all else is gravy.
Well, I batted a thousand, I got the requisite "BOO yah!" out of each of them. Pardon me while I rock!!
And a word about the gravy: Sharon got me a perfect Christmas gift -- an introductory flying lesson.
What makes it perfect? A) it's noteworthy and beyond the mundane. B) it's something I really want to use, rather than feel I ought to use because someone got it for me. C) it's something I would never think to buy for myself.
I've been in a plane like 3 times in my entire life, and always loved every second of it. Flying is such a rush. I'm gonna wait for the nice weather before I cash in my gift cert, though. [I'll warn you all ahead of time so you can stay in your basements until I "land". ;P ]
Bottom line: four "BOO yah!"s... not too shabby.
