something I am grateful for today
May. 26th, 2010 06:48 amMemories of my dad...
I was at work, going down the hall on my way to the restroom when I passed a young mother with a baby in one of those carrier-seats. As always, I glanced inside as I passed to see the baby, and as always I broke out in a grin when I saw it because it was so cute. (As always.)
The grin was still on my face when I entered the restroom and caught my reflection in the wall of mirror by the sinks. And suddenly noticed that my mouth looked exactly like the smile my dad used to make when he saw a baby...
and this caught me so off guard that I actually teared up a little.
I still miss my dad. Not with a constant, gnawing, ever-present ache or anything as melodramatic as that, but I do miss him.
