something I am grateful for today
Oct. 7th, 2010 10:16 amThis mornin I was putting the garbage out as dawn was just beginning to crack. I left my bags at the curb, stood up, and stopped for a second.
Suddenly I noticed that the only sound I could hear was the breeze. So I just stood for a bit and listened. Then I looked up, and noticed that the sky was just starting to lighten, so it looked like a dark blue expanse. But I soon realized that, if I looked at a spot and waited for my eyes to adjust, a few faint stars gradually became visible. That struck me as very cool.
I spent a little while out there, being still, watching the stars appear and listening to the whisper, taking a moment to drink in the beauty and peace.
(It'd be nice to be able to start every day that way, I think.)
