something I am grateful for today
Sep. 8th, 2011 05:56 amAt forty-one minutes past the official deadline, our union reached a tentative agreement with the administration -- meaning we're not going on strike today! My prayers were answered in the affirmative!
(Of course, this agreement still needs to be ratified, and at this moment I have no idea what's in it. Here's hoping that there are no snags during this follow-up process. To my knowledge, our union has never failed to ratify a tentative agreement -- I guess because the understanding is there that, if they've been wrangling for over six months to get here then this is probably the best we can get.
(Today is the first time it's been brought to my attention that our Board of Governors also has to ratify this agreement -- I wonder what happens if they don't??)
