something I am grateful for today

While I was at work yesterday, the power apparently was off in my house (in half the city, in fact) for a few hours. But it was back on by the time I got home. This got me thinking that, usually we have power just fine.

Usually, things work. That's the point.

Many of our major appliances have needed seeing to in the few years since we got them with our new house: furnace, water heater, fridge -- as well as the garage door. But in every case, I learned things about how they work and how to keep an eye on them, and those service interruptions have made me continually grateful that usually, these things all work.

I mean yeah, we take for them granted and get put out when they break down on us, but really the vast majority of the time...
