just to clarify
Oct. 25th, 2017 12:29 pm I sometimes find myself telling someone, "You don't owe me anything." When I think about it, what I really mean is that you don't owe me anything special.
I think there is a certain baseline of respect and dignity that we owe everyone, simply by virtue of their being a human being. Perhaps with the exception of those rare cases where someone does something so mind-bogglingly appalling that they forfeit even that modicum of consideration. (Such people are usually ghastly felons or political figures.) However, I haven't done any of those rare unspeakable things, so yeah you do owe me the same respect that you owe basically everybody.
