The linework is uniformly dense with no depth of field -- no differentiation of figures in front from figures behind, no foreground/background clarity, forms tend to mush into each other.
Adding colour helps the forms to distinguish themselves a little, but there's still a sense of a uniform jumble, nothing to lead the eye through the picture.
In panels 2 and 3 (if you don't count the figure on the right as a panel, it isn't clear if it's a panel and, if so, which panel it is) -- anyway, in those two on the left, the hatching in the background serves no purpose other than to make the background similar to the foreground in line density, and make those fields mush together visually.
