something I am grateful for today

I am grateful that, although I am down with some flu, I am still able to make it in to the office today -- because with co-workers' absences today (owing to illness and other factors), my presence here is desperately needed.

[Can't help noticing that, while “feeling needed” is reputed to feel good, I've never enjoyed it that much. I prefer being wanted but not needed. (shrug)]

Agreed. I have also changed how I feel about "feeling needed" since having a child who of course very much needs me...and also generally prefers me to do everything. It can be draining to be *that* needed!
