SLEEP APNEA
Jan. 21st, 2003 01:10 pmseems like its becoming a buzzword for the 00's (how do we say that? "the zeros"? "the ohs"? "the oh-ohs"? "the uh-ohs"? i like that one...)
anyhoo, i recently learned that i am a walking textbook case of S.A. (and go figure, im an overweight middle-aged male, who'da thunk it). i dont have an official diagnosis yet although im scheduled for tests very very soon... but when sharon says she heard me stop breathing for about 20 or 30 sec, then struggle, then gasp and choke some air back in... and then do that 20 times in a row nonstop... that sounds pretty sleep apnea-ish to me, regardless of how the tests come out
the reason i am glad to learn all this, is that S.A. is treatable, and a successful treatment can have STAGGERINGLY far-reaching effects on one's general state of health. put another way, it is possible (POSSIBLE) that rectifying this could modify me from a fibromyalgic lump to a regular guy. do you have any idea how SWELL that concept is? how SWEET??
so please cross yer fingers and toes for me, kids, and we'll see whats what...
