1) If I ever name-dropped a popular culture reference and she said “I don't know what that means”® as she usually does, I wouldn't give her The Look like her co-workers do, I would patiently and matter-of-factly explain the reference to her.

2) At some point I would eventually say to her, “I hope you'll forgive me for persisting in referencing pop culture that you don't recognize, because your pop culture knowledge is widely scattered. You know Cyndi Lauper and you know a lot of jazz, for example. Therefore, it's hard for me to predict in advance which references you're familiar with and which ones you aren't. So I keep trying and hope for the best.”

3) And after I said that to her, she would get it without any problem, and she wouldn't think it was weird of me to say it.

We would get along fine.

Freaks and Geeks is back on [at least for the time being]. Yay.

Most mornings I don't remember what I dreamed the night before... and when I do, my dreams are usually mundane to the point that they pretty much resemble my real life. Nothing fun or cool or noteworthy. However:

last night I dreamed that Sweets worked in my office! Swellness abounds!!

I got a personal tweet (not an actual DM, but nonetheless addressed to me) from Hart Hanson! My day is made!

Finally got Serenity on DVD! We've had the Firefly series on disc for a while now and seen it a few times, but only saw Serenity once, back in Sept '08. Jonesin to see it again for a while now, and now we can! And now we have the whole thing!

FWIW, I'm still keepin an eye out for a good deal on the two-disc special edition Serenity, but in the meantime this'll do. (And, I mean, this was only seven bux, eh?)

And, just for the record, the final shot of the Firefly opening sequence, where the ship goes tearin overhead over all them runnin horses -- that is one of The Coolest Things Ever®. I'm just sayin.

Got to see Alan Tudyk in a show last night. I always enjoy watching his work.

Lately I've been deeply moved by a number of stories I've been reading or watching, where something seems to touch close to my heart. It's usually small subtle things as opposed to sweeping soapish melodrama, but I feel like there's deep truth in the corners of these stories. I find myself wishing I could write something [which in my case means a comic] that could reach people the same way.

I also find myself wondering if I even have any similar deep feelings and insights of my own, or if I'm capable of expressing them. In other words, if I'm gonna write something, then what do I have that I can say?

I've been stuck at that point for years....

- I thought last night's season premiere of House was quite good. Maybe not perfect but quite good. Enjoyed it.

- Showcase has started showing old Bones episodes at 10pm Mon thru Thurs. It's nice to have that much Bones available to choose from, but I often miss the end - it's hard for me to stay awake in front of the TV all the way from 10 to 11pm, no matter what's on....

- Showcase has also started showing the next season of Weeds. Not sure why, but what used to be “a gripping, do-not-miss show” for me, is now something that's “fun and I try to make a point of seeing it”. I'm just not quite as Into™ Weeds as I used to be. I don't think it's actually declined in quality, so WTF? Guess it's just me...

- hoping to see Stephen Fry in America again sometime

- have pulled out the DVDs and started re-watching BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad - something I seem to do a couple of times every year

I wish...

Faux-Angela™ was working at *$ this mornin.

I always get a kick outa when she's there, it makes me suddenly feel like I got a bit part on Bones...

Okay, so last night was when I saw the season finale of Weeds. And so now, every single effin member of Nancy's family is in their own separate predicament, all calculated to make her life hellish, plus she herself is caught in The All-Time biggest and ass-est of Big-Ass Cliffhangers®.

So now I'm sad and cliff-hung... and I get to stay that way for a year.

Why oh why do I watch this show??!!

Name 5 things that you adore secretly (or publicly) but think are childish.

1) Hello Kitty [actually the whole Sanrio gang, but especially HK]
2) Pee-Wee's Playhouse
3) a lot of the humor in Austin Powers movies
4) pro wrestling
5) my first series of comic books that ran from when I was 11 thru 15

Okay, I admit that I'm as caught up in the story of the Jennifer Wilbanks debacle as many others are... but maybe for different reasons. Care to be exposed to my thoughts on the subject? )

EDIT: May 26: I see they've now decided to press charges against her for making a false report to the police. And the municipal government is looking to make her pay for their search expenses. It's nice to know that, when you're really hurt and upset and in a panic, you can always rely on the kindness of strangers....
