my ten fave singers

Spent a lot of time lately listening to singers that I like, and that's got me thinking about who I like and why I like them...

This list doesn't necessarily reflect Greatness or Importance. I can think of many amazing excellent singers not included here. This is a list of the ones I enjoy hearing, that I derive a special pleasure from listening to, which of course makes it even more intensely subjective than most of my lists.

These singers make me feel warm and reassured. Listening to them is like listening to an old dear friend. These are the sorts of voices that, they can make it worth it to hear a song you don't even particularly like, just because it's them doing it. In many cases there are “better” singers, but in some ways these folx' imperfections actually add to their appeal, making them seem more human and vulnerable and intimate. They always make me feel good.

You may well have your own equally subjective list, if you stop and think about it. But here's mine [and some of it surprised even me]:
