funny how things linger
Dec. 8th, 2009 10:30 amWhen Paisley was learning to talk, she said “tetchoo” when she was trying to say “thank you”. For some reason it stuck with Sharon and me, so now, nineteen years after the fact, we still say tetchoo* to each other sometimes, even though Paisley abandoned it long ago.
* sometimes we shorten it to “tetch” :P

Date: 2009-12-09 01:54 am (UTC)Drew has several oddball sayings he picked up from his maternal grandmother that I and Alida use routinely. He and I have an entire language of slang and verbal shorthand that baffles the crap out of casual onlookers. We have a range of verbal artifacts from Alida's childhood, but this is my favorite: when she was learning to speak, she invented a sound for 'drink' that just stuck. To this day, if any one of us would request the favor of sharing the beverage of another, it's well within the confines of polite congress to extend a hand and say "geedle?". :-}
Tetchoo for sharing a bit of family sweetness.
