Last week we got hit with a sudden snowstorm before I remembered that I had failed to put the weather cover on our central air thingie outside. (I'm still not used to having a central air unit, let alone used to caring for one.) So by the time I regained that neuron, there was a layer of snowy ice on top of the thingie.

Since then, we've had a few days of thaw, so that this mornin I was able to go out, clean all the ice off and strap down the weather cover. [The thaw and the newly cleaned and covered thingie are what I'm grateful for, in case that wasn't clear.]

I hope there wasn't any real damage done to the unit by ice getting in there for a few days. Maybe I've merely closed the barn door after the horses are gone? I dunno.... ideally, it's all good and we're now covered for the rest of the winter.

I should mark October 1 on my calendar as the day to put the weather cover on. I'm sure we'll be well past running-the-AC weather by then.

You have to cover them?

Not exactly sure how have to it is, but I know it's recommended, and everyone else in the neighbourhood does so I figure it's probably wise.
