something I am grateful for today
Mar. 9th, 2010 12:13 pmA guy who works in this department passes thru our office a few times a day and always has a good word. [Hi, Ivan!]When he refers to me by name (as happened this mornin), he calls me “Johnny”.
Very few people have ever called me Johnny. Even as a kid, only a small select handful of aunts, uncles, cousins etc. chose to call me that -- no one in my immediate family ever did, none of the kids at school, etc. Strangely enough, it seemed to happen more as I got older -- but still, I hasten to emphasize, very rarely.
But, when it does happen, I always enjoy it. I don't think I can rationally explain why, but when someone calls me Johnny it makes me feel like they think I am A Good Guy™.
