Just heard about a school board in Mississippi that has a written policy saying that prom dates are required to be of the opposite gender. A lesbian student at one school in that district has tried to stand up for her “right” to bring her girlfriend to the prom, and the ACLU is backing her up, saying that the board's policy is unconstitutional.

The school has responded by cancelling the prom completely.

This is true. It's been big news for days now because, of course, there's no news in MS more important than hate. And here under the buckle of the bible belt, a little holier-than-thou grandstanding gets you extra crowns in heaven.

I might live in Mississippi, but I'm from Idaho. :)
