something I am grateful for today

a somewhat better night's sleep -- it seems like speaking with Barbara helped to an extent

some words of wisdom I gleaned from that meeting: we need to recognize the extent to which the future is not in our control. Over the next few days, weeks, months... things will happen, other people will make other decisions, and your life can be impacted in ways that you can't change or prevent. Be aware of those things, account for them in your plans, then try to let them go... and focus on caring for you and yours today, in the here and now. "One day at a time" is not just for AA.

selective attention

 lately I am having instances of little things jumping out at me, things coming to my attention that have long escaped such attention before.. things like signs on buildings, lyrics in songs... just recently I noticed a bass line in a Sulk song I have heard over a thousand times before without noticing it...

Our perceptions are mysterious things indeed.
