something I am grateful for today

Our “new” car has windshield wipers that can “flip up” poking into the air rather than resting on the glass. I'm told this is a good thing to do when you're parked in the snow which might freeze onto your windshield -- because when you scrape the ice off, you also have to use the scraper to free the wipers which are frozen fast to the glass. And in so doing, the scraper will nick the wiper blades and damage them. Meaning you need to replace them more often. But if they're poking in the air, you can scrape off the ice first and then lower them back down to the glass, and presto: blades that last longer.
For me this is a big exciting deal because I've never had a car before that was capable of doing this! I always had to scrape with the wipers down and ding up the blades. But today, there is a little snow coming down and I am trying out the “two-wipers salute” for the first time. Wish me luck!
