Well, it's now Monday where I am, so that makes it Election Day finally. I'm not gonna argue the pros and cons of any particular party [*cough* Conservatives suck *cough*] so much as make a couple of observations re our electoral process.
- campaigning, signs, ads, etc. ended up not interfering with my Christmas as badly as I had feared... so I gotta admit that a late December campaign was not such an insufferably huge pain in the posterior after all.
- we voted at the advance poll. Something we've made a point of doing for the last eight or ten elections now. It so utterly rocks. We drive to the polling station and there's plenty of parking. We walk in and there's like one guy in line ahead of us. We're in and outa there in like five minutes.
I dunno what took us so long to figure it out. I mean, it'd be different if we were still trying to decide who to vote for up until the deadline, but we already did the listening and reading and thinking and deciding long before that.
Hands up if you know three weeks before election day who you're gonna vote for. Okay then, so did you vote at the advance poll? Next time don't be a dolt like I was for so many years. Last-minute election line-ups suck! So until they perfect online voting [you will observe that I am not holding my breath here], I vote for the advance poll every time, dudes!
Rock on.

Date: 2006-01-24 12:04 am (UTC)I voted tonight and I was in and out within 4 minutes. With two kids in tow, no less.
Advance polls DO rock. You get to brag how you've already voted and sit back all smug-like, too.
