something I am grateful for today

The release twenty years ago today of Suede.
In March 1963, The Beatles released their first album. It sold more copies in its first week of release than any other first album in UK history, earning it the title of Britain's Fastest-Selling Debut Album. It held that record for almost twenty years, until Frankie Goes to Hollywood released their debut album. And then Frankie continued to hold that new record...
...for almost nine years -- until the release of Suede.
Breaking that record again was a rare feat and a mark of undeniable commercial power. This told the UK that true pop mania was happening again, as it had both of those two previous times. This record-breaking release was proof that Suede, and Britpop, were Really Big.
This is an interesting track from Suede. I chose it because it's a different sound from their singles, and gives some idea of Suede's range and versatility. And it also showcases how supple Brett's voice was when he was younger. (And this shows that he could pull it off outside of the studio, as well.)
