exactly four weeks ago i wrote in my 100 Things that i still dont wear glasses...
well, time to eat those words:
today i picked up my new reading glasses. now please understand, i dont neeeeeeeeeeeeeed these glasses, i dont, okay? i can still read tiny print just fine when my eyes go commando... but im at the point now where i can feel my eyes "working" as i do so... and my optometrist said that these will allow to me read more restfully and will put less strain on my eyes, meaning they will last longer... so that sounds like a good deal to me, hence i went for it
the frames were picked out according to my anal-retentive fussy specifications: i wanted dark thin ones, with no frame over the top of the lenses cuz it gets in the way when i peer over them [as i find myself doing anytime im doing anything other than reading something up-close]... (so this means my lenses look kinda like an underwire bra)... so far today, everyone is telling me that wearing them makes me look old, and apparently they also make my head look fat [but sharon was with me when i went to pick frames out and she said they all make my head look fat, so i just hafta live with that]... i also got kinda short, bottom-half lenses so that theyre easier to peer over... but boy do these guys ever take getting used to, esp. the part about how when i turn my head, the view in my glasses moves past slower than the view outside of them does...
(i suspect the real kicker is gonna be learning how to ink while im wearing these... if any of you out there are inkers, youll know what i mean...)
