Yesterday I had a molar removed. Because of complications I won't bore you [further] with, they had to administer a general anaesthetic so I slept thru the whole thing. I'm sure I was gone within ten seconds after the first injection...

The thing I remember most distinctly about the entire process was just as I was coming to. There was this sensation of being more comfortable than I have ever been ever in my entire life. I just kinda woke up in this reclining chair with a blanket over me. I felt exactly perfectly cozy, not too hot, no cold bits, just perfect. I don't actually remember dreaming anything, but I felt like whatever I had been dreaming was really calm and peaceful and pleasant, and I could easily go right back to sleep for a few years. It was like having The. Best. Sleep. Ever.®

For some reason that sleep was like a revelation, and since then I've found myself wishing that all my sleeps could be so cozy and restful and perfect.

[Well yeah, I had a big corner o' gauze hanging out the side of my mouth and I was as stupid as a failed reality show, but let's just hand-wave that junk away, it was such a good sleep! Hee.]

Totally -- I've been under three times now and it's always like that. When I described having an impression of dreaming this time, I couldn't for the life of me tell you whether I had been dreaming for, as you said, "five minutes or a thousand years". There is no impression of time with the asleep part. It's very bizarre...
