Today was mostly another walkabout day for me. This morning we went to the grocery store, on the way to which we passed the 15th century pub The Black Swan:

Me at Sainsbury's, where they have all kinds of things we can't get at home:

On the way back, we caught a brief moment of the sun struggling to break through, illuminating the mighty spires of Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate:

After lunch I went back out for a solo wander, starting with places I had been last year and yesterday. But today I discovered a tiny passageway linking The Shambles to Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate:

wherein I also found a hidden shop!

I made my way past Grape Lane, which I understand used to be called something else:

I think it looks kinda charming:

As I expected, I found myself at York Minster, which I wanted to revisit this year. Here's the first peek of it from Minster Gates:

and some closer shots from the side:

and this year I even had a look at the back of it:

Leaving the Minster, I wandered down High Petergate -- here is a view of Low Petergate therefrom:

Found some spiffy old shops on Stonegate, which I peeked down last year but walked the length of this time:

Wended my way past St. Sampson's:

Came upon Ogleforth:

No idea what's down there but it looks modestly quaint to me:

And found myself at Monk Bar and the old walls of the city!

Passed St. Cuthbert's on the way back:

And Aldwark -- looked a bit interesting...

And this: no idea if it's special or important, but to me it looks and sounds so completely English!
