UK2018 Trip - Dec 13

Once again I was greeted by a sunny (albeit brisk) morning:

I decided to wear one of my more British shirts when I headed out for coffee:

and took the scenic route, where I spotted some swans on the Foss:

and also came upon a more full-length view of St. Mary's steeple:

BTW, this will give you some idea of how low in the sky the sun remains all day, this far north and this time of year -- I cast this long shadow at 10:30 a.m., two hours after sunrise:

This is the view from Caffe Nero, my coffee shop of choice in York this week:

After lunch it remained sunny:

so we went out for a bit of a shop and stroll, which led us to the narrowest snickelway I have yet traversed (which connects Peter Lane to High Ousegate:

and also to Spark:York, a new establishment which is a sort of combo indie artisanal mall and funky art gallery:

Eventually we circled our way back home, where I caught the setting sun upon the head of Walmgate:
