my books -- was just looking at them and thinking of the ones I look forward to reading, the ones I look forward to re-reading, how good it feels that they wait so patiently for me....

My books are my favouritest things but they're also a huge source of stress: I don't have the room for them - more than half of them are in a storage unit - yet I keep buying more. In spite of that, they're always patiently waiting and are reassuringly solid.

Every home needs at least one stack of books.

I have purged my library twice so far -- each time with eventual regrets, especially when I learn that no, you can't "always sign it out from the library if you want to read it again". Still have hundreds of them in boxes with no shelf space...
