CPAP update

okay, so i've been sleeping with the CPAP for a while now... and while my life hasn't done a one-eighty, i notice some differences:

- i feel more alert when i wake up

- my mood throughout the day seems to be a bit better [but maybe i should check with my family before saying that ;) ]

- i have this sensation of cold freshness thru my airways... and i realize that the other times i have felt that way is when i have been on an oxygen mask... so i'm thinking this could be an indicator that i'm starting to get more oxygen while i sleep [which is the Whole Point of this thing, in case you forgot...]

but y'know, the tech lady sure felt like she was steering me to use this one particular type of mask with my CPAP.... y'know, the whole "everyone likes this one better" routine... she insisted i try it along with the one i wanted [i wanted one like the one i used in the lab for my successful test, it worked well and was real comfy...]

now dig: she gave me the one that i wanted, granted... but it has blue gel in the padded parts that fit on your face [the one in the lab had colorless gel]... but she swore that all the ones she's ever had of that model are blue, never had a colorless one... and when i use this blue one she gave me, i wake up with blue imprints on my face... that don't wash off... however, the one she wants me to use has colorless padding [go figure]...

i'm so naturally suspicious [read "paranoid"] that i feel like i'm being railroaded into choosing the one that she wants me to. however, i should point out:

A) "her" mask actually has some advantages that make it preferable over all, and
B) it will cost me less to go with hers than with mine

so i know she's not trying to rip me off or anything... but then what is it? is she getting kickbacks from that manufacturer or something? why try so hard to sell me on this thing, rather than just let me see for myself?

maybe hers has an alien implant hidden in it.... that could be it... i didn't recognize her, so she might not be from around here... hmmmmm....

HOLY CRAP, wee...just take the mask that's cheaper and doesn't leave blue marks on your face. Sheesh.....

... you mean you aren't even the least bit curious about the aliens in our midst??

Huh.

I agree with Tray, if it works and doesn't leave marks on your face . . . use it! Who cares if the nurse is an alien or not . . . maybe she's a good alien ;)

I agree in that I go with the non-blue one at first. If it ends up being uncomfortable or not as pleasant, try the other one. And if this is a non-refundable type item, then try to get her to make an exception for you if you go with her recommendatin and end up not liking it.

But I admit I'd probably be a little bit curious if I were in your shoes. But I'm also going to think it's more likely a kickback issue than an alien issue. =)

I finally got around to making an appointment with my doctor to discuss my suspicion that I have sleep apnea. I'm seeing him Friday morning. :-)
