Twenty years ago I started conceiving of a comic series which was to be my magnum opus, but never got it developed to the point where anything was publishable, and it eventually fell to the wayside as so many of my projects do. However, I thought I had come up with a truly excellent title for it, if nothing else.
Lately I've been casting about in my mind for a potential project and revisiting some of my old ones for possibilities. Just now I decided to do a Google search on that title -- and sure enough, there is a webcomic out there now using it. Which means, if I do go ahead on this project, I have to scrap the best thing about it.
If I had plowed ahead and published even a pilot issue back in the day, then that title would rightfully be mine now. On the other hand, said pilot issue would've been put out half-baked and be nothing to be proud of now. So is it better that I waited, or no?
