a few more London tidbits

- part of what fascinated me about London's municipal transit was its variety: not only buses and subways, but also bikes and riverboats! We actually had occasion to “transfer” from the Tube onto a boat one day, and that boat ride was the smoothest and most comfortable mode of transportation I enjoyed during my entire journey:

- a further point to underscore the city's relationship with the car: the central area in which we stayed and spent much of our time, is a restricted zone where cars are actually billed (£8) for entering -- more like a toll than a fine, I suppose. But still, clearly designed to deter people from driving in that region...
