Paul Fricke, whose latest work is clearly a love letter to the old comic books I grew up on. It reminds me of how much I loved to read comics back in the day, and how much I love to make them now... just basically evokes a very strong, very warm, emotional/irrational reaction from me.

As if that weren't enough, Paul also teaches me how to more deeply appreciate the artistic example of Alex Toth -- plus he himself serves as an example of comics craftsmanship for me to continually strive toward, dangling in front of me like a carrot... :P  Keep on rockin', Paul!

Something tells me you think it...

It is a goal toward which I aspire but don't always achieve. :P

Did you pick up the monster sized Toth books?
I have the first two and I am waiting on the third.
Massive volumes, hours and hours of eyeball candy.

I do have the first one, Ron, and am saving up for the others -- I also got the Toth “Setting the Standard” book recently... Plus I got those two softcovers (black cover and white cover) edited by Manuel Auad back when those came out. All recommended!

I have the first Manuel Auad book, am searching for the second and third plus a few other Toth treats.
I have the coveted "Toth By Design" very expensive and hard to find. I do have the Standard book also.
It's a never ending search for Toth stuff.

"Toth Black and White," "One For The Road" and in 1995 Manuel Auad edited and put together an Alex Toth book for Kitchen Sink press.

Here's a link to the one I have:
