something I am grateful for today

This morning, sewage [or at least stinky water] backed up into our basement bathtub and the furnace room. Here are the flukes:
1) I woke up early [like before 5] and felt like I should get up instead of going back to bed for an hour or so. And I felt like checking the basement. This meant I had enough time to clean up the mess and then still have time to get ready for work and not be late.
2) the water in the furnace room never actually reached any of the items sitting in that room, so no damage and there was only the floor to clean
3) Hunter happened to still be up, so I had help in figuring out the source of the problem [partial clog in the basement toilet] and fixing it [he fetched a zillion towels etc., helped watch the drain to make sure the problem went away, and whatnot]
Without all those flukes, I might well have inadvertently left the problem sitting there undiscovered to end up in someone else’s lap. This way, it was all cleaned up before anyone else got up and had to face all that yuck before breakfast.
So yeah I am kind of a hero. Woot.
