that you need to set your Profile on FB to let people follow you. I had been wondering why some people had Follow buttons displaying and others didn't. Someone was kind enough to explain that you go into Setting on your Profile and set Public Posts so that following is open to Public.

Not exactly intuitive. But I've been there for over ten years and am still learning things, holy mackinaw.
