Oh gosh, I am just getting started so have only read a couple, but am already so impressed. Recently read The Beggar Maid (not the collection by that name, just that story) and really liked it. Last night someone online said that Wenlock Edge was their fave, so I read that and also quite liked it -- it can be read online free here.
I've just finished reading Wenlock Edge and now will probably be thinking about it for the rest of the day to try and sort out what I think of it. I think I like it.
Today I read The Turkey Season and now must add it to the list of stories I would recommend. [My research online indicates that it is generally highly thought of -- makes sense that I would read it from a Munro volume entitled My Best Stories.]
I am finding that I want to only read one story of hers in a day, or perhaps two if they are widely separated. When I come to the end of one, rather than wanting to binge on ahead into the next one, I want to stop and digest the one I just finished. Just my observation.
Having now ready one, I find I concur with the entirety of your second paragraph. Ms. Munro's stories don't beat you over the head with A Point; they required mastication and cotigation.
