I thought this was gonna be a quiet day, cuz it was rainy and no one felt like going out. But then after breakfast, we ended up going across the street to shop at Primark and I got some new T-shirts. Then we came back home for lunch and I felt like I didn't wanna waste the couple of remaining hours of daylight... so I put my hood up and went on a wander to places I hadn't been before.
I travelled west along the River Foss:

and stumbled across Clifford's Tower - how swell!

Fifty-four steps up to the tower gives you a long view of the city:

Some of the buildings in that view are the York County Court house:

and the Castle Museum:

Here's a more general panorama I could see from the Tower hill:

Other lovely old structures I happened across on my way around include the Magistrate's Court:

the York Institute:

(a bas-relief over to our right reads "Science" -- to the left is one I cut off [sorry] that read "Art" -- neato)
and St. Michael's:

Then I finally needed to get out of the rain for a bit, so I nipped into Costa and chilled with an americano:

And now my coat is hanging up to dry -- glad I didn't let some water stop me from seizing the day.
