UK2018 Trip - Dec 16

Not much to report for this last leg of the journey, just involving getting from Gatwick back to Canada. Here's me girding my mental loins before checking out of the hotel in the morning:

And they needed girding -- Gatwick was the most challenging of all the airports to contend with on this trip, and patiences were tried, but we all made it thru okay in the end. Shortly after takeoff we snagged a farther view of the green hills of mid-December:

Snapped a selfie in the tiny loo at the back of the plane, already tired well before the halfway mark of the flight:

For some reason, once we were miles above the Atlantic, I got the urge to draw a bit, and did so using the materials on hand:

Then mostly sat quietly with my thoughts:

Strangely enough, it was once we were over Canada that my tears over my departure finally came.
And now we're back home -- yet I am finding that it somehow feels a bit less like home than it did a few weeks ago.
